NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), supports a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.

The NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission works with people with disability to improve the quality and safety of their NDIS supports and services.

The Commonwealth Ombudsman considers complaints about Australian Government agencies including:
- – the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) which administers the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and
- – the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission which regulates and takes complaints about NDIS service providers. The Commonwealth Ombudsman does not take complaints about providers.
Equipment

eBility is a one-stop accessible marketplace for all disability equipment and accessible vehicles. Established in 1998.

Home Assist Secure provides subsidised home maintenance services to people with disability living in their own home or rented accommodation. Services include minor electrical repairs, appliance repairs, handyman services and gutter cleans.

LifeTec provides dedicated assistive technology (AT) services and aim to enable people of all ages and abilities to actively engage in home, work, school and community life.

Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme subsidises funding for medical aids and equipment is available to eligible Queenslanders with permanent/stable conditions or disabilities.
Advocacy

Community Resource Unit Ltd creates, shares and sells a variety of resources aimed at assisting people to work towards positive change in the lives of people with disability.

Sunshine Coast Citizen Advocacy is a group of local people who focus on those members of the community who have intellectual disability, are often neglected, vulnerable and alone, and who need someone to speak up for them and represent their interests

Queenslanders With Disability Network is a state-wide organisation of, by, and for people with diverse disability centred around a strong network of people across Queensland and almost 30 peer support groups which inform, connect, lead, and influence change.

Queensland Advocacy for Inclusion is an independent organisation that advocates for the protection and advancement of the needs, rights and lives of people with disability in Queensland.

The Office of the Public Advocate upholds and protects the rights of Queensland adults with impaired decision-making ability

Aged and Disability Advocates Australia are advocates and a community legal service, helping older people and people with disability to speak up for their rights and needs.

Queensland Human Rights Commission work to protect and strengthen human rights in Queensland, and to help build a fairer, safer, and more inclusive community.

Disability Services

National Disability Services (NDS™) is Australia’s peak body for disability service organisations, and Australia’s biggest and most diverse network of disability service providers.

Queensland Government Disability Services offers support and services for people with disability, their families and carers.

Services Australia helps you access Medicare and some health services at low or no cost. Help for people with disability or if you’re caring for someone.
Guardianship

Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal is an independent, accessible tribunal that efficiently resolves disputes on a range of matters, QCAT also makes decisions about a person who may have impaired capacity.. The tribunal’s purpose is to provide a quick, inexpensive avenue to resolve disputes between parties and make decisions.

Office of the Public Guardian is an independent statutory office established to protect the rights, interests and wellbeing of adults with impaired decision-making capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system and at other visitable sites such a youth detention centre, disability service or mental health facility.

Department of Housing and Public Works offers help with housing and renting, provide social and affordable housing and homelessness services.
Incontinence Aids

Services Australia helps you access the Continence Aids Payment Scheme, a yearly non-taxable payment to cover some of the cost of products that help you manage incontinence.

In Home Care provides access to Government subsidised child care in the family home and is targeted to assist parents or carers who are unable to access other mainstream child care options such as those who have families with challenging and complex needs.
